Eggs Sold in Arizona are Being Recalled Due to Salmonella Outbreak
Food safety experts are circulating a new alert. A multistate Salmonella outbreak is triggering a recall of 1.7 million dozen eggs from the August Egg Company, based in Hilmar, California. The recall includes brown cage-free and brown certified organic eggs

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued the notice after an investigation linked these eggs to the illness that's spreading across several states, including Arizona.
Arizona Faces Rising Egg Prices Amid Bird Flu Emergency
The affected eggs were sold at various retailers in Arizona, including Walmart. Here's a list of brands to look for: Clover, First Street, Nulaid, O Organics, Marketside, Raleys, Simple Truth, Sun Harvest, and Sunnyside.
If you have one of these brands on hand, check the cartons for plant codes P-6562 or CA5330 and Julian Dates from 32 to 126 to confirm whether the eggs are part of the recall.
What are the Symptoms of Salmonella
Salmonella contamination is a foodborne illness that causes severe gastrointestinal distress. Young children, the elderly, and anyone with a weakened immune system can become severely ill when exposed to Salmonella.
Symptoms include fever, diarrhea, and vomiting, and they can require medical attention.
What to Do if Your Eggs Could Be Contaminated with Salmonella
If you have a carton of these recalled eggs, they're not safe to eat in any form. Return them to the store where you purchased them or dispose of them safely. If you've used any of the affected eggs, be sure to sanitize any surfaces that may have come into contact with them.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) warns that you should not eat, sell, or serve these eggs until further updates are provided.
