It feels like no matter where you live, we're always wondering WHEN WILL A NEW COSTCO COME?! Well, Costco has just made an announcement that NEW locations are definitely on their way! Costco will be opening 29 new stores between now and 2025. We're all hoping the same thing, "Please, let a Costco come to my town!"

So far, only 8 locations have been announced, with another 21 locations hanging in the balances. The announced locations are both domestic and international.
- Bend, Oregon
- Madison, Alabama
- Pleasanton, California

CALIFORNIA CELEBRATES:
That's right, California, you will be receiving AT LEAST two new Costco locations in Pleasanton, California, and Napa, California. Both Pleasanton and Napa are both located in Northern California near the Bay Area.
WHAT OTHER CITIES DESERVE A COSTCO?
With 21 future locations yet to be named, everyone is speculating if their hometown will be next. St. George, Utah has been one of the fastest growing cities in the United States for decades, they have one Costco, and it is consistently packed! Rumors have swirled for years that they'll be given a 2nd Costco location. I know Southern Utahns are crossing their fingers hoping they'll be named in the future Costco announcements.
HOW DOES COSTCO CHOOSE THEIR NEXT LOCATIONS?
Costco's got a bit of a formula when it comes to picking its next big spot—and spoiler alert, it’s all about the 'burbs. They’re on the hunt for those sweet suburban areas near major cities, where the cash flow is a bit thicker than the national average. But it's not just about the money; they’ve got a checklist:
- Population Vibes: If there aren’t at least 200,000 people hanging around within a 5-mile radius, Costco’s probably not interested.
- Income Check: They’re scoping out areas where the median income hits $75,000 or more. Because, let’s be real, bulk buying is more fun when your wallet’s a little thicker.
- The Ideal Crowd: Costco loves a crowd that’s college-educated and living in households with two or more people. It’s like their dream team of shoppers.
- Sales Goals: If a region’s Costco stores are hitting those juicy annual sales targets, you can bet they’re thinking about adding another one to the mix.
So, if you ever wonder why Costco hasn’t popped up in your neighborhood yet, now you know—they’ve got some pretty HIGH standards!
