Food is such a funny thing... it brings people together, but can even push people apart when a "unique" combination of food comes together. There are some people who can't stand when their food even touches on the plate, while others will mix it all together like it's no big deal. Some of the nations most iconic foods began as "weird combinations" at one point. Imagine being the first person to put peanut butter and jelly together, or the guy that poured gravy all over his potatoes. Even Utah's famous Funeral Potatoes have raised some eyebrows at one point with those Corn Flakes on top. However, these weird ideas have now turned into absolute staples!

Utahns aren't afraid to get a little creative with their food and drinks. Look at Swig and the whole 'Dirty Soda' craze. There's something about growing up here that makes people a little more open to the unexpected food combos. I mean, I always believed that everyone was putting butter on their Pop-Tarts... but apparently not! Even at my mom's hotdog restaurant you can find the Sweet & Salty Dog: a hotdog topped with grape jelly, peanut butter, and bacon. It sounds like a crime against humanity, but people actually swear by it, and it became one of her best selling hotdogs.
