If you've been around Utah for a while, you know a lot about what our state has to offer as a great place to live.  When I read the latest feature getting attention, I think SOUTHERN Utah is a big contributor here.  The people at Gambling.com did a survey and found that Utah ranks #9 of the 50 states for Long Scenic Walks.

We've got hiking trails winding all over the mountains from one end of the state to the other but I think Southern Utah gets us a better score.  #1 on the list for scenic hikes is California.

#2 is Alaska which surprises me.  Yes there is a lot of wilderness to hike through but have you been to Alaska?  I have and - while beautiful - it's also COLD.  Where's the hiking trail?  Oh, it's buried under 13 feet of snow.  Washington is #3 on the list.  Also beautiful, usually rainy but that's OK.  New Hampshire is #4 followed by Arizona, Montana, Wyoming, Kentucky and then us.

They graded each state on five different data points.  User Rating from those who've spent time hiking here and everywhere, Gained Elevation, Air Quality, Average Daily (Peak) Sunlight Hours and National Park Coverage.  We do GREAT on National Park Coverage.  I like the variety Utah offers.  We have a bunch of perfectly paved trails for bikes and hikers but we've also got a lot of trails that have just been created by your feet and mine walking through the wilderness.  Most of our trailheads offer water, restrooms, air stations to pump up your tires if needed and scenic beauty like no other place on earth.
