The Utah sky was burning bright last night with a meteor that looked to be the size of Albuquerque. 

It was like Armageddon except without the Steven Tyler sapping you for tears.

That would be insane to see live like that.

It almost could be confused for a SpaceX launch from California except those are usually going up.

"In a flash of light, dozens of lucky viewers got a glimpse of a real phenomenon Saturday night: a meteor barreling through the Earth's atmosphere — so big that our NASA solar system ambassador called it a fireball."

So what exactly is the difference between a meteor and a fireball?

Apparently, a fireball is brighter than a just your garden variety meteor and how they scientifically measure brightness is by comparing it to the planet Venus. If it's as bright as Venus then you've got yourself a fireball.

If it's as bright as Uranus, then you've got yourself a whole other problem.

Seeing all this stuff happen makes me want to go out and buy a telescope. And be one of those guys who is constantly talking to anyone who is unfortunate enough to be around me about how I spotted some constellation and how you can see the flag that Lance and the boys put on the moon and how it wasn't Stanley Kubrick and I've gained a witness of that firsthand.
