We all miss the days before some eager beaver got involved with the trash.

You used to be able to throw anything out in your can. TV's, batteries, cousins, tar, plutonium.

Now you've gotta be careful or they'll put you on a barge headed for Cuba.

Here are some of the most prominent items you can't put in your garbage can according to KSL.com (LINK TO FULL ARTICLE)

Lightbulbs

Who knew?

Apparently you can't recycle them either.

According to KSL:

"You can’t throw them in a glass container. And you actually can’t throw them away in your typical garbage can either. Fluorescent lights are especially nasty and need to be disposed of properly. Fluorescent light bulbs. That’s because they contain harmful dust and vapor, such as mercury." (LINK TO FULL ARTICLE)

Appliances

I think this one's a gimme. You're not gonna put a fridge out on the curb.

Clothing

Say what??

Why not?

"The ragged clothing you’ve been meaning to throw away might not belong in the trash can. But it might not belong at a second-hand store either. Definitely don’t use a second-hand store’s donation bin for your own personal garbage. But don’t inundate your local dump with clothing either. Especially when clothes are 100% recyclable." (LINK TO FULL ARTICLE)

Electronics

I guess you're supposed to recycle this but does anything ever get recycled? I thought that a big scam. Somebody told me.

Paints and Oils

These are on the no toss list because they're flammable. So be careful with these.

Let me know any others we missed!
