This is Hogwarts Canyon near Hanksville in eastern Utah and near Lake Powell. You get there off Highway 276 and it begins near Hog Springs which gives the hike the first part of its name. Every Harry Potter fan should visit just to say they've been to Hogwarts.

There isn't actually much in common with the castle. But if you like repelling and hiking on sand stone, this beats waiting on a list to take the Subway in Zion. If you want a lot of what the red rocks of Utah have to offer, this short hike gives you a little of everything.

A Unique Hiking Experience Where Challenges and Thrills Await

Hogwarts Canyon is short, it takes just a couple hours if you go fast, and it is packed with fun drops from cliffs and all kinds of interesting terrain. There are 5 repels with biggest dropping 90 feet where you scale through a narrow section and underneath an arch.

The whole hike is just 1.3 miles which seems easy but you will go up 550 feet in elevation. It includes climbing over mounds of rock and dropping into the drainage that ends with a small stream. Its as tough as the Tri-Wizard Tournament.
