What People Are Listening to So Far This Year

We have gotten used to Joe Rogan having the most listened to podcast but in the beginning of 2025, there was a new podcast at the top. It isn’t a comedian, journalist or crime detective, it is a friar talking about the rosary.

The podcast named “The Rosary in a Year” is hosted by Mark-Mary Ames who is a catholic friar who hopes to teach people about Jesus Christ and the benefits of focused prayer. It seems to have some interest as it was the number one podcast listened to the first few weeks of the year.

Wasn’t the World Supposed to Be Getting Less Religious?

The trend of people reporting less belief in God and religion the last decade seems to be at odds with what is happening here. Something about what this humble friar is teaching about prayer has caught the attention of those listening.

Father Mark-Mary Ames is originally from California and became a part of clergy after being inspired by Mother Teresa. He joined the order he is in to give back to the poor. His humble desire is to bring people peace and hope.

Noting how busy and distracted we are these days, Mark-Mary Ames explains how the prayer of the rosary takes focus and can help people who feel overwhelmed. It must be pretty fascinating as he has millions listening in.

It also seems to point to a shift that might be happening. It might be too early to tell, but it seems like there is a renewed interest in finding meaning in life and how religion can help with that.
