If you have some anxiety for driving Utah’s roads because of other drivers, you may not want to watch “Ride with the Hive” produced by the Utah Department of Public Safety. It gives you too much of a look at who else is sharing the road.

Watching the Phone, Running on the Freeway and a Hit and Run

This 10-minute videos on YouTube feature Utah Highway Patrol officers doing their job on an average Utah day. They patrol the highways and freeways of the beehive state and you kind of have to shake your head. Here’s three incidents from just one episode.

Young woman side swipes a car. While changing lanes on the freeway she smashed her truck into the side of another car and then speeds off the exit. When they approach her later at her house, she said she didn’t stop because she plays the music loud and her car is noisy.

She did think she might have hit something because her mirror was bent in. Of course, the crunched side panel with all the white paint was an indication as well.

Teens lose some clothes. A box fell out on the freeway and they stopped in the median and ran across the lanes of traffic retrieving the clothing. Drivers had to brake and quickly move to other lanes.

The kids acknowledged that maybe those clothes weren’t worth endangering their lives and other freeway drivers.

Woman catches up on Marco Polo. A woman is pulled over while driving at night on the freeway after she crossed multiple lanes of traffic. She said she was just catching up with family while watching a video.

She didn't see why she was getting a ticket when all she was doing was staring at a bright phone while driving at freeway speeds in the dark.

Watching these videos always makes me want to drive carefully home and park my car in the garage and hide under the bed, in a back room of the house preferably.
