Authentic Recipes from Jamaica Served up in St. George

I had the brown stewed chicken, and it was like eating comfort food that made me wish I had grown up on these islands. The chicken was tender and easily fell off the bone. The seasoning tasted like a good stew only with the hint of island spices.

The sauce that came with it tasted like it may have come from the drippings and was good on the chicken the rice, I even dunked the plantains. Speaking of which, plantains are one of the sides and they were cooked perfectly.

Plantains are a lot like bananas and are usually fried and served as a side dish. The plantains had just the right texture and were somewhat sweet and slightly caramelized. I could’ve eaten a whole plate of them.
