SUU Expands Access to Higher Education Through Online Programs and Scholarships
Southern Utah University is making it easier than ever for adult learners to return to school and complete their degrees, thanks to a growing range of online programs and targeted scholarships.
Speaking on the Big Picture Morning Show on KSUB, Steve Meredith, Associate Vice President of Enrollment for Graduate and Online Programs at SUU, acknowledged that financial concerns top the list for most prospective students. “Money certainly is number one,” Meredith said during the interview. “People are also concerned about how they’ll balance work, family, and school. That’s where online education comes in.”
To support students who want to begin or restart their education this summer, SUU is offering summer scholarships specifically for online learners. “Summer is a great time to start. You can still go on vacation and take classes,” Meredith explained. “Our tagline is an extraordinary education anytime, anywhere.”
SUU Will Help You Cross The Finish Line
For those who have previously started but never finished a bachelor’s degree, the university offers a Finish Line Scholarship. “It’s one of the best ways people can jump-start their education again,” Meredith said. “The main qualification is that you haven’t taken a class at SUU in the last 12 months.”
In addition to financial support for individuals, SUU is launching a new Partner Plus Scholarship as part of its effort to work with municipal agencies and private businesses. “We’re starting with sheriff’s offices, clerks’ offices, and expanding to private employers,” said Meredith. “We provide scholarships to employees from those partner organizations.”
Meredith emphasized that scholarship funds are limited and encourages early application. “It’s first come, first served,” he said. “Don’t hesitate—get started now.”
