Check Out Lucky 13, Home Of Utah’s Top Burger
For some people it's a pizza. Others choose a steak. Still others will take macaroni and cheese. Whatever it is, most all of us have our quick, go to comfort food, that we will make or go get at the drop of a hat because we like it. For me, it's a hamburger. It was one of the first things I learned how to make when my parents thought I could be left on my own for an evening.
Recently, the Daily Meal took on the daunting challenge of identifying the best burger in every state, relying on its national “101 Best Burgers in America” survey and additional research into local favorites, reviews, and regional best-of lists. This obvioulsy caught my attention as I am always in search of the perfect burger.
In Utah, the crown went to Lucky 13 in Salt Lake City. Ever heard of it?
A Burger So Heavenly It's Called Celestial
According to the Daily Meal, Lucky 13’s menu reads like a burger lover’s dream. The popular Celestial Burger piles bacon, grilled onions, and cheddar cheese atop a juicy beef patty, while the towering Big Benny stretches nearly a foot high and tips the scales at 18 ounces of meat, cheese, and caramelized onions. It’s not for the faint of heart — or the light of appetite. It does sound heavenly.
The Daily Meal’s methodology combined expert opinion, culinary surveys, and public input to create a well-rounded view of what makes a burger exceptional. Their researchers looked beyond big-city chains, highlighting independent restaurants known for flavor, creativity, and community following. From roadside diners to upscale eateries, the list celebrates the diverse character of America’s burger culture.
Utah’s inclusion on that list underscores the state’s growing food scene, where chefs experiment with locally sourced ingredients and bold flavor combinations. Beyond Lucky 13, burger fans can find their own favorites in small-town grills and ski-town pubs, each serving up regional spins that deserve recognition.

We really don't have to make a trip to the Wasatch Front to get a great burger. You've got choices like Freddy's Steakburgers and Frozen Custard in Washington, Hermies in Cedar City, and Seven Brothers in St. George (Washington) and opening soon in Cedar City. So we've got plenty of choices around here.
Still, that Celestial Burger does sound good.
Whether it’s the smoky char of a perfectly grilled patty, the crunch of fresh toppings, or the tang of a secret sauce, the search for Utah’s best burger might never truly end — and that’s part of the fun. For burger lovers, every meal is another opportunity to find a new favorite between the buns.
