I'm an addict, I freely admit it. I try to stop, but it just won't happen. I'm doing fine, but then I drive down 200 North in Cedar City, and all my resistance goes out the window...literally.

Let’s be honest—fast food has us wrapped around its deep-fried little fingers. It’s just so easy. No chopping, no cooking, no dishes. Just a quick drive-thru trip, and in minutes, you're handed a warm bag of delicious regret.

We know we shouldn’t indulge so often. We’ve seen the documentaries, read the health warnings, and felt the post-burger sluggishness. Yet, convenience always wins. After a long day, who wants to wrestle with raw chicken when a pre-made sandwich is a few bucks and a drive away? Besides, those salads in the fridge are starting to look suspiciously wilted.

So, I was intrigued by the findings of this survey from Data Pandas showing the most popular fast food by state. I'll tell you what your fellow Utah citizens picked as their favorite fast food places in a moment, or you can click the survey now.

But let's cut fast food a break.

Fast food isn’t just about speed; it’s about pure, unfiltered joy. French fries taste like childhood. Burgers are comfort wrapped in a sesame seed bun. And don’t even get me started on milkshakes (which probably have absolutely no milk)—tiny cups of happiness that make every bad day slightly better.

Of course, we tell ourselves we’ll quit. We make bold declarations: “No more fast food this month!” But then, life happens. Work runs late, the fridge is empty, and suddenly, we’re making excuses: “It’s just one time… or maybe three.”

The truth is, we love fast food because it’s there for us. It doesn’t judge when we order extra fries. It never asks why we’re getting a milkshake at 10 p.m. It just delivers that comforting, convenient satisfaction.

So, where does Utah head when it's time for a fast food bonanza? It's seems our choice is In and Out, and who can argue with that. (By the way, someone really needs to open one in Cedar City....they would be printing money!) Simple, tasty, cholesterol increasing delight. We also seem to like Del Taco and Chic-Fil-A here in the Beehive state.

Sure, we could cook at home more often. And maybe we should. But let’s be real—every now and then, that drive-thru window will call our name, and we’ll answer. And extra napkins, please.
