St. George is full of people who either need or want to sing their hearts out after a week of working.

Luckily, there are a few options that allow you to do just that without running the risk of having the cops called on you for disturbing the neighbors. There are places that offer both open-mic and karaoke nights.

Plus, according to the University of Oxford, singing actually helps with “a sense of happiness and wellbeing”. Neurochemicals like endorphins, serotonin, and dopamine get released when you liberate those set of pipes.

You don’t even have to be good at carrying a tune!

So, why not head out for a night on the town for some musical therapy?

Caffe Elevato is one of the places in St. George that offers karaoke and open mic. On Friday nights at 6 p.m., head over to the caffe for karaoke with friends...or to rage scream. No judgment here. Then before the week has even started, you can go to open mic night every Monday from 7-10 p.m.

Caffe Elevato also has Bluegrass jams on Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. You’re invited to bring your fiddle, mandolin, or banjo to the event. This is perfect for those who just don’t want to sing in public no matter what.

The One and Only also offers karaoke nights in town if bars are your relaxation place. Every Thursday you can drink beer and sing to prep for your weekend. That way when you go to work on Friday, all the bad vibes are already gone and you’ve basically just a floating cloud on the job.

I will certainly be trying this next time I have a rough week.
