One of the top golfers in the state has made his decision about where he will play next level golf.

Desert Hills senior golfer Boston Dixon signed with Southern Utah University today in front of family, friends and media.

The 4-year standout for the Thunder finished his high school career with a 4th place finish in the state tournament shooting 148 in two rounds at Sky Mountain Golf Course. Desert Hills finished second as a team behind Crimson Cliffs.

Dixon finished in the top 20 in state all four years of his prep career. As a freshman he finished 19th, sophomore 8th, junior 12th and senior 4th.

Desert Hills golf coach Ron Denos was impressed with Dixon's consistency throughout his career.

"He qualified for every tournament while he was at Desert Hills," Denos said. "That's a great accomplishment. I can't think of anybody off hand who did that at Desert Hills and we've had some good golfers come through here."

Dixon was also accomplished the rare feat of being a team captain for two years.

"He's been our captain for the last two years, and I haven't ever had that before," Denos said. He's lead this group coming up...he was always calling people to go play and it's carried on, these kids play all the time and I think he's really instilled that into our program."

Coach Marco Leoni, who worked with Dixon for almost a decade was always impressed with his passion for the game.

"I've known Boston since he was this tall," Leoni said putting his hand by his waist. "He didn't like to practice as much back then, he just always wanted to play. He loved the game from the beginning."
